Golem Creature
This is a more muddy concept of the golem where chunks of stone are sticking out of him for a nice silhouette.

In this version the golem has more exaggerated features and a more armor-like look.
|
This version was based on one of the first concept designs made by Chi Wong. This version defined the base for the further designs, which consists out of large arms and a large flat back.
|
An almost final version of the golem. with this version there was some experimenting with roots on the golem's body. However these seemed too random and illogical.
|
The final design of the golem which was used in the animatic. This is the low res version with the normal maps applied. Almost every body part is a seperate object in order for it to be easier to rig and to make the animations look more natural for a giant creature consisting out of rocks.

Lighting
The lighting in the scenes were made in order to display a sunny/neutral scene. These were later modified in Composite by Derk Over and Hans Crefceour in order to achieve the artstyle that was defined by the concept designs.
